Player’s Story – David Callaghan

I played rugby and 5s for 30 years, until arthritis in my knee forced me to stop

I missed the banter from the guys so looked for a replacement and luckily a WF session in Linlithgow had just moved to evening , and at 49 was a good fit me for.

I was suddenly able to play again, have the competitive spirit back and enjoy being with the guys

I love playing WF and its like being a teenager again kicking a ball.

After I retired aged 64 I saw walking football sessions advertised at Dunbar went along and started playing goals and Iโ€™ve not been allowed out since being a WFS rep has helped me meet so many great people several who I consider are great friends and colleagues now . Iโ€™ve always been competitive and played golf to a fairly high standard for years but I enjoy the social aspect of walking football just as much the banter , the social nights and watching the club grow are all part of what our club is .
bringing people together from different backgrounds various abilities playing regularly meeting new friends getting fitter and healthier are all what our WF is
